The COVID crisis has brought the best and the worst of humanity, as we laud the work of frontline workers and volunteers during the crisis, reports of harassment and extortion also became prevalent and have shown that human beings can be so cruel and worse than animals.
Now as the oxygen crisis persists and people run from pillar to post seeking medical supplies, the cast couching has taken a new form “sex for supplies”.
A Twitter user on Tuesday tweeted through the platform after alleging that a person she knew as a sister has been asked for sex as she sought to procure oxygen for her father.
The tweet stated, “ My friend’s sister was asked by a neighbor in an elite colony to sleep with him for an oxygen cylinder that she desperately needed for her father”. Asking the netizens what action could be taken against the offender, the post has evoked outrage among the people with many urging the user to file a police complaint.
This is not the first of its kind incident being reported during the pandemic situation. Earlier, a woman posted the requirement of plasma for one of her family members in her social media handle and even shared her number to get help instantly, but ended up receiving nudes and sexually explicit images from unknown people.
Humans have lost hope in humanity amid the COVID pandemic.
